Rabbits love a place to hang out inside a hidey house. It gives them the feeling of being safe in a burrow. They will sleep in there, relax in there and just hang out in there. 

If a rabbit is startled by a noise or movement they need a place to run to and feel safe. Hidey houses come in all shapes and sizes. This hidey house is the Carrot House from Bunny Bunch Boutique. I designed it about ten years ago. It took me about a year to do so to get it just right. After doing lots of different proto types I found having a front and back door was something the rabbits liked best as they liked to be able to run through it, and often do so while playing. I added a send story where they can go up and take a nap.

It’s nice and big too so two or three rabbits can go in at the same time. Plus I have found my cats love it and I found my little dog in there too once.  I have them all through my house and my rabbits love them.

People often call Caroline asking if we have rabbits that like to be held. Well, there are some rabbits that don’t mind it too much for a short period of time. But, the truth is rabbits like all four feet on the ground.

This is why before you get a rabbit, you need to learn all about rabbits. People often expect that they are going to be like a cuddly toy rabbit. But that’s not the case. This is why they are not good for children as most children want to pick them up and hold them. If the rabbit gets scared, the child can get scratched and the rabbit gets dropped.

Don’t get us wrong! Rabbits are sweet, gentle endearing creatures. They can have great loving relationships with their humans. You just have to learn the best way to live with a rabbit.

We love to lay down on the floor and wait for one of my rabbits to see us doing so. Without fail, they will come running over and lay down with us to get ear rubs and head strokes. Sometimes. they become playful and run around us and jump on our my back. Then they settle down again for some more love.

Try laying down on the floor with your rabbits! It’s a great way to spend time with them on their terms.

Marlene was spotted by another rescue in a local shelter in Southern California. They noticed right away she was not in good health. Unfortunately, The other rescue could not take in Marlene so they called Caroline to help. Caroline observed the discoloration of Marlene’s fur and bald irritated skin. This is a direct result of being in a small, dirty cage. By first look, one would not be able to tell Marlene is bony and most likely undernourished. A bottom bath and creams, along with a balanced diet of hay, veggies, and pellets will be the first steps in the healing process.

How to spot urine scald

  • Baldness and red, irritated skin
  • Fur loss
  • Discolored and matted fur
