Here is our little miracle bunny. Her name is Sunflower.
Thank goodness a kind person scooped her up out of the street and got her to us. She probably would be dead by now if that hadn’t happen!
Her eye was very badly infected, and on top of that she was emaciated. She couldn’t eat because her front teeth had overgrown so long she couldn’t open her mouth. She was covered in fleas and very weak.
Right away we got her on pain meds and antibiotics, trimmed her teeth and syringe fed her. We also gave her Subq fluids and treated her for fleas.
Her eye area needed to be debrided. It was just terrible – full of infection and the smell was awful. But we made it through, she was a very good patient and relaxed in Caroline’s arms while her eye was debridedt. She could sense that after all the terrible things that had happens to her, that someone was finally helping her.
Here she is now. She is home with Caroline. We will continue her treatments and then when strong enough will get her in to one of our vets for head X-rays to see her cheek teeth in case they were the root of her eye problem.
