At our vet visit last week x-ray reviled a fracture in her right hock joint. This is a recent injury, with rest and metacam for pain and swelling we are hoping this will heal well. But, we also found that her left hip is missing the ball that fits into the sock.
The hip joint is made up of a ball-and-socket. The socket is made of bone and cartilage, and the ball is the top of the thighbone, also known as the femoral head.
There is also what appears to be an old healed fracture of the pelvis. More than likely she was injured as a young bunny.
This rabbit has certainly had a poor start to life. Two separate serious injuries. Then dropped off outside a shelter when they were closed.
I am so glad she is safe now, and that she will be healing and getting everything she needs. She loves to spend time in my bed. Her new life has now began. Stay tuned for more updates on her new journey of a lovely life.
