The Story of Rose the Pregnant Pig

Rose the potbelly pig was found as a stray in Orange County on the streets and was taken to a shelter. The shelter noticed she may be pregnant and upon getting an ultra sound and three babies were seen!

Luckily, Bunny Bunch found a wonderful farm rescue up by San Francisco. A van was rented, a driver was found, and her journey began.

It was about a six hour drive and she arrived safe and sound.

She has a heated barn with with 24/7 cameras, and a lovey outdoor area to explore.

A few days later, we got news from the rescue that she had her babies! All the babies healthy and happy.

Chili was turned into a county shelter with a female chinchilla. It was noted that he was neutered. Enchanted Chinchillas (a program of the Bunny Bunch) rescued the pair from the shelter. Upon examining him he had a badly injured tail and was not neutered, and yes his girlfriend Salsa was pregnant. She gave birth to a male chinchilla we named Pepper.⁣

The reason I am posting this is I would like to raise money for Chili’s on going medical bills. 💸 When we rescued him, he had a badly injured tail. After months of trying everything and working with several vets, we have not been able to get it to heal completely. He had an X-ray, several antibiotic treatments, oral and topical, his tail has been cleaned, wrapped and treated daily. He was tested for ring worm, had a deep tissue biopsy, and cold laxer treatment. Now we are trying some new treatments to see it they will work. Upon X-ray we did find some problems that suggest there was trauma, which could possibly have effected his tail.⁣

Once Pepper was born (Chili’s son), he lived with his mother Salsa, but had to be separated due to becoming sexually mature. The photo below is of me (excuse my feet) introducing Dad and Son for the first time. I’m happy to say they are now bonded and living together, with the Mother living in the cage next to them.⁣

So far Chili’s medical bills are around $800 with more to come. Please donate if you can, any amount will help us reach our goal.⁣

Teeny Tiny Little Edward

Three weeks ago a very pregnant piggie we rescued gave birth to five (5) little piggies. Five is a lot of babies for a guinea pig normally three to four is more common. A female guinea pig only has two nipples so feeding five is quite a chore.⁣
⁣
Little Edward was the runt of the litter, weighing in at only 20 grams when he was born. Baby guinea pigs are born fully furred, eyes open and running around from day one. As you can see Edward is half the size of the other babies. 😯 He would snuggle with his mother but was not feeding, the other larger piggies always fed but he wasn’t strong enough to push the others out of the way. His eyes were not fully open and he had trouble with his back legs although he could get around.⁣

Without help, he would not survive. So bottle feeding started right away, every two hours. At first he resisted being bottle fed but once he got a taste for the warm milk substitute, he loved it! I set the timer on my phone so he could be fed around the clock. Weighing him twice a day to make sure he was gaining weight daily, and he was. It’s always touch and go never knowing if he would make it. Every day he was alive meant he had a better chance of surviving. He came to absolutely love being fed and just couldn’t wait time get it in his mouth.❤

A week old was the first milestone giving me hope he would make it. Baby guinea pigs start nibbling on hay and veggies at a few days old. At a week old I saw Edward nibbling on a lettuce leaf, this was a great sign. 🥰 He continued to gain weight and even became chubby. He is now three weeks old, his back legs are fine now. He runs around with his brothers and sisters, eats all on his own and is a happy piggie. Time to separate the girls and boys at this age as baby boys can be known to try to breed their mother at three weeks old.⁣

Today, all the rabbits at Bunny Bunch Fountain Valley received their vaccines for RHVD2 Rabbit Viral Hemorrhagic Disease 2.

We Rescued 125 Rabbits from a Breeder

And Now We Need Your Help!

We rescued over 125 rabbits living in unfortunate conditions from a deceased breeder in Devore, California recently.

Upon notification, Bunny Bunch volunteers came to the rescue to discover the scarcity of food, water, and living conditions the rabbits were living in.

The rabbits were found living in wire cages with unsanitary water in California’s 90-degree heat.

Several infant rabbits had died from the conditions and other rabbits were found with health problems such as a missing eye, a missing ear, and being underweight.

Despite the living conditions, most of the rabbits were found in good health.

All of the rabbits were transported to Bunny Bunch Rabbit Rescue adoption centers located in Montclair and Fountain Valey, California, and assigned to foster homes. They have been given health checks, separated by sex, named, and are currently available for adoption.

$12,000 is needed to spay or neuter the newly rescued rabbits. They also need additional funding for supplies, food, litter, medication, and veterinarian care.

You’re right…It’s Clair Bear!

Some of you may remember she was rescued four years ago as a tiny baby at around five days old.

Someone saw a tied up shopping bag moving in a park at night time. Upon opening, they found three tiny baby rabbits. Sadly, two baby rabbits died, but luckily, Clair Bear made it.

As you can see by all the posts on our social media, she ended up staying at my house. She even has a husbun now, which Caroline will have to post about sometime too.

Fundraiser for Magnolia

We got a call about a rabbit in one of the local shelters. She is a big bunny, too big for the cages they had to keep her in. We were also told that she was an aggressive rabbit (probably from living in a small space and not being spayed). Plus when they went to spay her they found part of the intestines were stuck to the uterus so they couldn’t do the spay. So we rescued her. Once she settled in at Bunny Bunch she blossomed. She absolutely loves to have gentle head and ear strokes. She loves play time running around and even did a binky. We are thank full they reached out for help.

We need to do exploratory surgery to see what is going on and to see if she can be spayed.
