Chili was turned into a county shelter with a female chinchilla. It was noted that he was neutered. Enchanted Chinchillas (a program of the Bunny Bunch) rescued the pair from the shelter. Upon examining him he had a badly injured tail and was not neutered, and yes his girlfriend Salsa was pregnant. She gave birth to a male chinchilla we named Pepper.⁣

The reason I am posting this is I would like to raise money for Chili’s on going medical bills. 💸 When we rescued him, he had a badly injured tail. After months of trying everything and working with several vets, we have not been able to get it to heal completely. He had an X-ray, several antibiotic treatments, oral and topical, his tail has been cleaned, wrapped and treated daily. He was tested for ring worm, had a deep tissue biopsy, and cold laxer treatment. Now we are trying some new treatments to see it they will work.  Upon X-ray we did find some problems that suggest there was trauma, which could possibly have effected his tail.⁣

Once Pepper was born (Chili’s son), he lived with his mother Salsa, but had to be separated due to becoming sexually mature. The photo below is of me (excuse my feet) introducing Dad and Son for the first time. I’m happy to say they are now bonded and living together, with the Mother living in the cage next to them.⁣

So far Chili’s medical bills are around $800 with more to come. Please donate if you can, any amount will help us reach our goal.⁣
